The 15s and 16s traveled to Harrisburg, Pennsylvania this past weekend to compete in the annual
Boys Atlantic Northeastern bid tournament. The tournament's very different format had mixed results for LIVBC.
15 National: The boys had a great weekend and after going 5-0 the first two days, beating LVC who already had a bid, and then facing Old Dominion to go 2-0 on day two. Now they found themselves having to play a final challenge bracket to make it to Gold! In a tough 3-set match to defeat Academy 15 Red 19-25, 25-27 and 15-7 to earn their bid.
16 National: They boys went 2-1 on their first day, losing only to Samurai from Canada in a close 3-set match. The second day they went 2-0, beating the #2 seed in the tournament, Puerto Rico in two, 25-20 and 25-19 in a match where they played flawless volleyball. On the final day of play when bracket positions are normally already finalized, they found themselves in the position of having to play Puerto Rico again. They lost in two 19-25 and 25-23 which dropped them to 7th.
16 USA: Playing without their starting outside who came down with the flu the day before we were set to leave, the boys started the tournament pumped. They took the #2 seed in the USA Division to 3 before falling 15-13. They were competitive with every team they played, winning one more match and losing in the finals of their bracket.
